Verrocchio, the master of Leonardo

The 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo da Vinci falls in 2019: Palazzo Strozzi in Florence celebreates it with a special exhibition, devoted to him and his extraordinary master Verrocchio. The exhibition Verrocchio, the master of Leonardo, set until July 14th, is a constant dialogue between the two artists.

The exhibition brings together, for the first time, the major works by Andrea Verrocchio together with those by Pietro Perugino, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Sandro Botticelli and Leonardo da Vinci, favorite pupils of his workshop. Through the 120 masterpieces, the complex figure of Verrocchio as sculpture, painter, goldsmith and draftsman comes to life, together with that of the young Leonardo, whose personal and artistic growth can be easily reconstructed.
